Spam filtering at CAL
As noted here, CAL accounts have individualized, trainable spam filters. You can interact with your spam filter through a few special folders in your IMAP mailbox.
spamBy default, this folder is used as a quarantine. Mail identified as spam by the spam filter for your account gets dropped into this folder. Please scan it occasionally for good e-mail that has been misclassified. Feel free to delete any true spam that landed in this folder.missed-spamIf a piece of spam makes it past the filter into your inbox directly, please move it intomissed-spaminstead of just deleting it. This will help your filter learn what you think is spam. When the filter is done retraining on a message in this folder, it will remove it automatically.not-spamIf you find that a piece of real mail was filtered into yourspamfolder, please put a copy of the message intonot-spam. This will help retrain your filter as well. When the filter is done retraining on a message in this folder, it will remove it automatically.
The retraining is run nightly at 3am.
It has been proposed that all spam older than 2 weeks should also be removed during the retraining run, but this is not yet implemented.
