"Where the Ocean Meets the Sky"
Brandon Horn
Graduate Student
Early sailors were tied to the coast, incapable of navigating without reference to land or accurately measuring distances at sea. With the start of the scientific revolution, astronomers began developing tools — some more practical than others — that made it possible to navigate the ocean and create accurate maps of the world. This age of discovery in turn lead to advances in astronomy and refined our map of the universe and the laws that govern it.
