The Violent Tendencies of Galaxies
One galaxy gobbles another galaxy. A supermassive black hole tears apart an orbiting star. Intense star formation propagates winds capable of blowing vast amounts of material out of the galaxy. A nearby massive galaxy strangles its neighbor. These are the stories occurring within and surrounding many galaxies. In this talk, I will discuss these and other violent phenomena to elaborate how galaxies behave in the (oh, so wild) Universe.
