| | 7 | It's likely that you have seen the beautiful images taken by Hubble |
| | 8 | Space Telescope on the cover of a magazine, on TV, or at an Astronomy |
| | 9 | talk. These images are everywhere- they have changed how people (scientists |
| | 10 | as well as the public) see the Universe. On the other hand, very few |
| | 11 | people understand how these phenomenal images of supernovae, planetary |
| | 12 | nebulae, dwarf galaxies, etc. fit into the Local Universe. I'm not |
| | 13 | interested in telling you exactly how far away something is, or |
| | 14 | telling you what it's sky coordinates are. I am interested in |
| | 15 | imparting a physical understanding of how the Local Universe is |
| | 16 | structured. On April 3rd, I want to answer questions like this: |
| | 17 | Where do you find dwarf galaxies, black holes, star clusters, |
| | 18 | luminescent gas? |
