The Sounds of the Stars: Harmony, Noise, and the Waves on Distant Shores

Abstract: Oceanic waves break upon the seaside, harmony governs the construction of music, and noise shapes our acoustic environment. What do these seemingly unrelated topics have to do with Astronomy? All of them have to do with waves: how they are born, how they die, and how they interact with one another. I will discuss astronomical discoveries in the context of sound, music, and noise with live demos in order to bring to life the ongoing hunt to unravel the mysteries of the waves on distant shores.
