Fossils of Formation: Stars in the Milky Way's Halo
All-sky surveys of the Milky Way have revolutionized our understanding of how the Galaxy formed. Stars in the halo are ideal probes of Galactic evolution and can be selected from these all-sky catalogs to study the structure of the Galaxy on the largest scales. We are finding more and more complexity in the outer realms of the Milky Way...and in turn more clues about the Milky Way’s past.
