I will speak about the plausibility of the direct collapse scenario of making seeds of the first SMBHs. The direct collapse scenario requires a pristine halo to be exposed to a critically high level of molecular hydrogen dissociating Lyman-Werner (LW) radiation, which prohibits star formation and leads the gas into a direct collapse to a BH with mass few 10,000 solar masses. If this scenario is possible and frequent, there might be a new class of galaxies that might exist in the early universe and detectable by the JWST.
