H- Chemistry in Astrophysical and Laboratory Hydrogen Plasmas

Reactions involving the negative hydrogen ion in a cold hydrogen plasma have been the subject of numerous experimental studies at UCL, Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium. A dedicated merged-beam setup is used to cover the range from subthermal to hyperthermal velocities, providing absolute cross sections for a wide range of elementary processes at play in astrophysical environments. Mutual neutralization, transfer ionization, charge exchange and associative ionization will be shortly reviewed to provide the audience with a consistent picture of molecular hydrogen dynamics.
