Galactic Archaeology

abstract: I will talk about using individual stars of all ages as probes of the history and evolution of star formation in small dwarf galaxies in the halo of the Milky Way. I will talk about recent progress from large spectroscopic samples of individual stars collected by DART. These samples give us a detailed picture of abundance patterns & kinematics in these galaxies and how they have changed over time. These studies allow us to make a detailed comparison between the properties of stars found in dwarf galaxies and in larger systems like the Milky Way.
