Title: What goes on in the dark of galaxy halos?

Abstract: Spiral galaxies continue to obtain star formation fuel throughout their history, and the gradual accretion of gas clouds onto galaxies like the Milky Way is still occurring today. I will discuss gaseous halos in the context of recent models that propose condensed halo clouds are responsible for building up the baryonic mass of the Galaxy. Studies of the gaseous Milky Way halo allow both the condensed clouds and the elusive diffuse hot halo to be investigated and scenarios for spiral galaxy formation to be tested.
