Spitzer tools

The two Spitzer tools are spot and leopard. These are bundled together as something called "Spitzer Pride." as described in http://ssc.spitzer.caltech.edu/propkit/spot/ .

Installation

Downloaded the installation file from http://ssc.spitzer.caltech.edu/propkit/spot/software/S15.0.5/Spitzer-pride15_0_5-linux.sh

  • Created the installation directory, /opt/spitzer/15.0.5, and ran the installation script:
    [0 root@io spitzer]# ./Spitzer-pride15_0_5-linux.sh

    installing...
    
    Please enter the full directory name where you want the
    Application installed: /opt/spitzer/15.0.5
    making directory  /opt/spitzer/15.0.5/lib

        unpacking jars
        unpacking docs
        unpacking the Java Runtime package
    Building scripts:

    The installation was successful.
    You can run the tools by changing your directory to  /opt/spitzer/15.0.5
    and typing the name of the application

  • make sure there are links to these in the path:
    secrest@phobos:~$ ls -l /usr/local/bin|grep spitzer
    lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root  28 2006-04-21 16:27 leopard -> /opt/spitzer/current/leopard
    lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root  25 2006-04-21 16:27 spot -> /opt/spitzer/current/spot
    secrest@phobos:~$
