Restoring the IPsec Connection

A common issue with the CWs is a stale connection or expired ipsec connection. This usually occurs if the network connection was interrupted. Some of the symptoms are not being able to logon through the graphical display manager GDM, but being able to ssh into the machine. One way to solve this problem is to connect as root using a GSSAPI connection and restarting or re-initiating an ipsec connection:

ssh -oGSSAPIAuthentication=yes root@'CW'.astro.columbia.edu

/etc/init.d/racoon restart
