This is the main page for planning and organizing graduate student seating. Seating is chosen based on a seniority system with the most senior graduate students getting first pick of seating that opens. Graduate students in the same echelon must flip a coin to determine who gets the seating (or in the case of n>2 must find some other appropriate randomization system). Students whose advisors are at the museum may be asked to relinquish their spots after they finish coursework and TA responsibilities.

A list of students and their seniority can be found in the * Graduate student directory.

List of offices

Grad student spots will generally have two desks, because they will be around for 5-6 years. Postbac and RA spots are more "temporary", because they are usually around for only 1-2 years. These spots will generally have a single desk.

Currently moving

Students are actively moving out of and into these spots. Both the previous occupant and the next occupant are indicated.

Open spots

Spots can be claimed here. Once you finish moving, please remove the spot from this list and inform Millie.

  • The desk by the door in 207 is open.
  • Maria wants Jeff's desk in 1333
  • Jemma would like to move to 1333
  • Andrew E. calls dibs on Dan's dangerously delightful comfy cozy cavern (1333b)
  • Sarah will take APW's desk in 1414 - move completed
  • Zephyr will take Lauren's desk in 1414
  • Andrea will take Sarah's desk in 1414. - move completed
  • Daniel will take Jia's desk in 1410
  • Kirsten will take Andrea's desk in 1410 - move completed
  • Mihir will take Andrew's desk in 1333.

Spaces coming available next

Students should post here if they are interested in changing spots and also indicate here which spots are likely to become available in the near future.

  • Jia will graduate and move out (1410) in early July.
