    21 GSAC meetings occur the last Tuesday of every month at 8 pm in Philosophy 301. It is the policy of GSAC is that for a department to be in "good standing", the department's GSAC representative or a proxy from the same department must attend all meetings throughout the academic year with two allowed absences. Departments who do not meet this obligation are considered to lose "good standing" and are ineligible to receive funding from GSAC funds (which are collected from student activities fees paid by every GSAS student).

    2323Every two years or so, GSAC elects three student representatives to the [http://www.columbia.edu/cu/senate/ University Senate]. One of the students must be from the natural sciences, one from the social sciences, and one from the humanities. Currently, an astronomy student is the natural sciences representative from GSAC.
